Becoming greener – by packaging recycling

Packaging recycling has many environmental benefits. For we have set ourselves the goal of making this company a little greener every month.

We re-use well preserved packaging from deliveries and returns for our packaging recycling.
Many companies change to the increased use of packaging made of paper again. That is the better alternative compared to plastic, but this resource is not unlimitedly available either.

Paper – one of the most important resources.

Paper is one of the most important and most produced raw materials. The paper industry worldwide produces over 400 million tons of paper every year. It should be immediately evident to anyone that is does not happen without consequences for the environment.
Paper is made of wood to about 95%, 20% of the worldwide timber harvest are processed to paper. 50 million cubic meters of wood are felled in Germany within 12 months, and in addition the consumption in Germany is higher than that of Africa and Latin America combined. All this is reason enough to reassess one’s own need for paper that on average amounts to 250kg per person per year! Source

At least 60% of the raw materials originate from recycling, that is to say from used paper; “only” the rest comes from freshly felled wood. A high consumption of paper, however, also entails a high consumption of water. About seven liters of water and 2.5 kWh of energy are required to produce a kilogram of paper. In addition, the production of paper leads to an enormous wastewater load on the environment, containing cellulose, chlorine, and other chemicals. Source

What do we do to preserve the resource paper?

We of course aim to preserve the resource paper by our packaging recycling, so we reuse well preserved packaging from deliveries and returns. We consume less packaging material by means of optimal package sizes.
